College essays can be the most daunting writing assignment high school students face. They don’t have to be. In this workshop, we look at strategies Teaching Artists can use to instruct college essay writing in public school classrooms and to coach students one-on-one. We will also explore some practical challenges of admissions essay support, including uncertainty around AI use and federal policy changes impacting specific student populations. Participants will have the chance to engage in group discussion to exchange ideas on challenges and best practices. Our shared goal: provide the support students need to craft their best personal essays.
